InteriorsTucked away within the woodlands of a serene country estate in Killinchy, Northern Ireland, Birch Cabins offers a refined escape that focuses on relaxation.
Continue Reading +When designing the interiors, we grounded our concept in four key principles: connection, nature, locality, and comfort. Each cabin, elevated above the lake and tucked into the tree line, is cleverly crafted to frame sweeping views through expansive glass windows. This seamless transition between indoors and outdoors invites guests to sit back and immerse themselves in nature, all while enjoying the refined comforts you’d expect from a luxury hotel.
The cabins have a compact floor print measuring 20 Sq M. Ensuring the space felt tranquil while highly functional with luxury touch points was key to the spatial planning. A large bathroom is tucked to the rear of a king size bed with views out over the tree canopy. To the right of the entry is a functional kitchen space with integrated dining.
PALETTE
Celebrating Irish craftsmanship and championing local materials was central to the design ethos. From the rich oak cladding to the beautifully woven throws from Mourne Textiles and bespoke artwork by local artisans, every detail honors the talent and materials of what we love and adore about Ireland.
THE DESIGN
The final design offers a serene space. Warm timber envelope the guests and mirror the tree canopy the cabins are hidden within. Warm textural finishes are soft and inviting while natural stones, antique brass accents and soft lighting ensure a subtle yet elevated finish within the space.
THE OUTCOME
Considerate and intentional detailing was key in the execution of the space. Solid oak cladding is used as the primary finish within the space, ensuring all joints align and read as one continuous line allows a clean architectural finish which heightens the sense of tranquility within the cabin.
Offering guests comfort and a touch of luxury while they switch off and immerse themselves in nature. Understated elevated moments are added through antique brass touch points and warm immersive lighting.
This is a space designed to allow guests to disconnect, relax and recharge.
