Bennie’s | Interior Design

Interiors

Bennie’s is our take on the neighbourhood clubhouse. A warm and welcoming pub and restaurant at the heart of The Kithmore, just moments from the Old Course in St Andrews. Designed around familiarity, character and a strong sense of place, the interiors reimagine the charm of a traditional Scottish pub through a more refined, contemporary lens.

Bennie’s is a place to settle in. For long lunches, a pint after a round, dinner with friends and evenings that run later than planned. Rich timber, heritage detailing and collected layers of furniture, artwork and objects give the space a sense of history and permanence. Intimate corners sit alongside the energy of the bar, creating a space that changes naturally throughout the day.
Familiar but considered. Refined without feeling precious.
A neighbourhood clubhouse designed to feel like it has always belonged in St Andrews.

The Kith Clubhouse

At the heart of The Kithmore in St Andrews, Bennie’s reimagines the traditional Scottish pub through a more refined, contemporary lens.

Working alongside Wirefox and ICA, Crown Creative helped shape the interior vision for the hotel’s main restaurant and bar, creating a warm, characterful space designed to feel like St Andrews’ clubhouse.

CRAFTING THE CONCEPT

Our ambition was to create somewhere that felt established rather than newly designed. A place with the familiarity and warmth of a great local pub, elevated through considered materials, detailing and craftsmanship.

The interior is layered with intimate moments, creating different places to settle in throughout the day, from a quiet corner over lunch to drinks around the bar late into the evening.

THE PALETTE

Rich timber panelling wraps the space, creating warmth and depth alongside heritage-inspired detailing, tactile upholstery and a collection of carefully considered furniture, lighting and artwork.

Traditional references are balanced with a cleaner contemporary approach, creating a space that feels rooted in St Andrews without becoming nostalgic.

A SENSE OF PLACE

Bennie’s was designed as an extension of The Kithmore and the town beyond its doors.

Subtle references to Scottish hospitality and the visual language of golf run throughout, while bespoke details, collected objects and layered finishes give the restaurant a character of its own.

The result is warm, relaxed and distinctly local. Somewhere for hotel guests, golfers and St Andrews locals alike.

BRAND & INTERIORS

With Crown Creative responsible for both the Bennie’s identity and interiors, the brand could become part of the physical space from the outset.

From hand-painted signage and menus to artwork and smaller guest touchpoints, every element was considered together, creating an experience where brand and interior feel inseparable.

THE OUTCOME

A modern neighbourhood clubhouse with the soul of a great Scottish pub.

Warm, familiar and full of character, Bennie’s feels like a place that’s been part of St Andrews for much longer than it has.
