Summer Hours. And why we’re loving them.

We’re making the most of the sunshine by introducing Summer Hours at Crown Creative.

Longer days, brighter skies and that undeniable urge to log off just a little earlier.

Well good news. We’re making it official at Crown Creative! Starting 7th April, we’re rolling out Summer Hours, shortening our days slightly so our team can spend more of their own time gathering inspo, recharging and simply doing what they want to do. A small change? Maybe. But we’re big believers in working smart, not just long. Studies (and good old common sense) tell us that a little extra time to recharge, leads to not only fresher ideas but happier teams plus an all round better approach to the work day. Yes to that!

Whether it’s a stroll around the city, a drink in the sun or just an overdue catch up with a friend, trimming our hours for a few months allows us to create that space to switch off! So, from Monday to Thursday, you’ll find us wrapping up by 5pm and Fridays at 4pm.

We know it makes sense. And here’s a few reasons why we’re all for clocking off a little earlier.

Prioritising Productivity

Less time, better work. It’s simple, but it works. When sunsets stretch into the evening and the sun is shining, there’s a natural sense of urgency to make those work hours count. With an early finish on the horizon, productivity gets a boost. Focus sharpens, distractions lessen and we get more done in less time. Sure think about it, when there’s a looming deadline, the clock ticking makes every minute feel precious. We’re applying the same principle here, by increasing the impact of every hour spent, we’re making our time working more efficient.

The Creative Flow

Great ideas don’t happen while you’re staring at a screen. They strike when you step away from your desk, whether it’s a change of scenery, a class at the gym or the chats with a friend, taking that break isn’t just time off; it’s time for our brains to recharge, allowing us to reconnect with a clearer, more inspired mindset. According to Inc, they show that mental space is key to unlocking creativity. Take daydreaming, for example, it activates the right side of the brain, opening the door for breakthroughs and fresh ideas. Creativity thrives on freedom and flexibility. Giving our team the space to step out of the office and refresh their minds results in more innovative ideas and solutions when they return.

Supporting Our Wellbeing

Burnout? No. We’re not here for that. It’s all about working smart and staying sharp. Taking time to recharge, whether it’s starting a new hobby, cooking up a meal at home or simply doing nothing, actually enhances our effectiveness in the long run. Forbes tells us that rest and rejuvenation are what can actually help us rebuild our mental abilities. As we slow down, we enhance our ability to generate new ideas and solve complex problems. We’ve found that for us, stepping away from the desk makes us happier, healthier and ultimately better at our jobs. By prioritising wellbeing, we come back to work recharged and more focused, ready to produce our best work.

Working Smarter

At Crown Creative, we believe success isn’t about how many hours you put in, it’s about the impact you make during those hours. By slightly reducing our workday, we’ve learned to prioritise what truly matters, cutting out unnecessary noise and focusing on quality. Business Insider supports that working fewer hours can actually increase productivity. It’s about getting to the heart of the task, honing in on the real ask and being more intentional with our time. Shorter workdays mean less time to waste and more room to focus on doing.

So with longer evenings, lighter heads and better ideas. What’s not to love? If you’ve got thoughts on summer hours, a go-to playlist for an evening walk or even a favourite sunset spot we should know about, send it our way.
